Music Day

On Friday, we had a (pretty much) all day Music Day! We visited four different classrooms where we heard many different types of music as well as saw how music can be used for dance. Here are some pictures and videos of our day!
In the first classroom, we got to see a ballerina doing dances from the hit show The Nutcracker.
Wow!
We also got to see our dance teacher and her friend do some more modern dances.
Our very own Kali got to take part in an improv type of dance where dancers base their next move off of what their partner did.
We finished the first class with Mrs. Alter and some Kindergarten and first graders dancing to some fun, up beat music.
In the music room, we heard drums from around the world from two MATES dads. We learned about rhythm and counting time in music.
We’ve got rhythm! So fun to see Room 1 and our first grade friends in Room 7 making music together!

I didn't get a chance to get a picture of the saxophonist/clarinetist, but here we have a banjo and mandolin player. This was a hoot-n-hollerin' good time!
At the end of the song, one of the Kinders said, “You know, we all knew that song, that’s why we were all singing!” So sweet and so true thanks to our wonderful music teacher, Mr. LaGuardia!
