The 100th Day of School is a special day in Kindergarten. The 100th day not only celebrates completing 100 days of the kids' first year of school, but also celebrates something we had been working towards since day 1--- counting to 100!
We started the morning walking through streamers in to the classroom and then we did this fun activity above. I asked each kid why they would like 100 of and what they would not like 100 of. Look for your child's initials on the left side to see their response.
During our celebration, we had five fun and interactive learning centers. Here's a peek at our day!
At my station, the kids filled in a 100s chart! The kids really impressed me! Prior to this activity, we weighed and compared their 100 items they brought in. They made predictions of which ones weighed the most/least and we used a scale to compare. Some of the items really tricked us!
This was the hit center: building with 100 cups!
I love to see their imagination at work!
The kids also made these cute 100th day crowns as modeled above by Nikos, Jackson and Sebastian.
Finally, there was the trail mix center. These kids were so in to creating a 100 piece trail mix that they probably had no idea how much math they were doing. They had fill 10 "ten frames" with different types of food. Then they counted by tens to 100 and then put it in a baggy. Then they had to sort the trail mix into groups of ten again! So much work but so much fun!!
These kids have grown so much this year and I am soooooo proud of them!!
