Oh My! Another Vowel! O!

Yay for another vowel! This week’s Mystery Letter is the letter O! O makes two sounds:
short o - octopus, ostrich, dog
long o - overalls, rope

For this week’s mystery bag, please have your child find something that either starts with or has the SHORT O sound in it. Use this song to help you! Next week we will do long o.

Beary Fun Week!

Last week was BEARy fun! We learned all about grizzly bears, polar bears and panda bears. Here is a glimpse into our week!
Here is Auden after our grizzly bear directed draw. We used oil pastels and the rubbing technique to make fur.
It was quite messy!
Use those muscles, Maddie! Blend!!!
The finished product at the Winter Art Gallery! (More pictures to come!)

In addition to a bear themed week, our letter just so happened to be B too!
This is what the assignment looks like finished.... But....
Madylan decided to keep going and wrote SO MANY sentences!

Throughout the week, the kids wrote in journals dedicated to bear facts. Here are some examples of the FANTASTIC writing these Kindergarteners are doing! I am AMAZED!!! I bet you might see some facts that you didn’t already know!

All About Grizzly Bears
All About Polar Bears
All About Panda Bears
To accompany our day all about pandas, we made these sweet heart pandas to help decorate the room for Valentine’s Day.

Then on Friday, the kids wrote about their favorite type of bear. I just love their responses.

And, as a fun activity, we learned about rhyming words and even made our own rhyming class book! Since this won’t go home, I wanted to share some of the great rhymes the kids came up with and illustrated.
